Frequently asked questions
Common questions about public reset events, verification methods, and personal usage — every answer maps to an actual field or flow on this site.
Is a public “usage reset” the same as my personal quota recovering?
No. A public event is an official announcement or confirmation for some scope of users — it does not confirm that your specific account has recovered. Only your own Codex account panel can confirm personal recovery; every event on this site repeats that boundary.
What is the difference between a temporary reset, a banked-reset grant, a paid instant reset, and a limit rule change?
A temporary reset is a one-time reset of a usage window. A banked-reset grant is extra allowance given to eligible accounts. A paid instant reset is a mechanism users actively purchase, not a free announcement. A limit rule change alters the rules of the limit itself and does not necessarily come with a reset action. They are distinct categories and should not be read interchangeably.
What do candidate, announced, confirmed and retracted mean?
A candidate has insufficient evidence and is not public or notified. Announced means execution has not been confirmed. Confirmed requires completion evidence. Retractions retain the revision chain. A published rule does not prove your personal quota changed.
What is “verification method”, and why do some events show verified while others show pending?
We list entries from WhenReset's public directory with a link to the original post. We have not independently checked the post's content. Consult the post and your account for the actual situation; listing never proves personal recovery.
Does this site predict the exact time of the next official reset?
The page may show a historical reference estimate with its sample size. It is neither an official schedule nor a personal recovery time. When the source is stale or samples are insufficient, no date is estimated; the official time remains not announced.
Is this site affiliated with OpenAI, Anthropic or xAI?
No. This is an independent third-party information tool with no affiliation, partnership, or official endorsement from OpenAI, Anthropic or xAI. It cannot speak on their behalf. Product names and trademarks belong to their respective owners.
What are the data sources, and how often are they checked?
Public records come from WhenReset, with a link to the original X post. We check the directory on a schedule and clearly flag failed or stale checks; failure never means there were no new events.
Is Grok's weekly allowance renewal a public reset?
No. Your weekly renewal is account-specific and shown in Grok's Usage settings. Grok alerts here cover newly listed public events only. Grok Bot has a separate allowance and is not counted as an ordinary Grok reset.
How do I find out about a new reset event as soon as possible?
When email is enabled, choose Codex, Claude or Grok public-event alerts and confirm by email. RSS is also available. An alert does not prove recovery for your account.
What happens if something on this site turns out to be wrong?
An official correction becomes a new revision on that event's history, together with a correction note. Nothing is silently rewritten — every revision stays traceable.
